The Orgelakademie Stade

was founded in 2002 as the Centre for the Promotion of Organ Culture in the Elbe-Weser Region. In this region, an exceptionally high number of historic organs are preserved, especially those of the famous organ builder Arp Schnitger.

The Orgelakademie Stade’s objective is to make this cultural inheritance accessible to people of all ages and to bring children and adolescents closer to the world of organs and organ music.

The Orgelakademie focuses on the following fields of work:

  • touristic activities (guided organ tours, organ trips)
  • youth development (Youth Organ Forum Stade, guided organ tours for school classes, kindergartens and other children and youth groups, educational organ concerts for children and families, organ taster courses, etc.)
  • research and publications

The members of the Orgelakademie’s sponsoring organization are the Administrative District and the Hanseatic City of Stade, the city of Cuxhaven, the Regional Association of the Former Duchies of Bremen and Verden, the Evangelical Lutheran Regional Church of Hannover, organ support associations and cultural foundations, parishes, and individuals interested in organ culture.
