The Orgelakademie Stade

was founded as the Centre for the Promotion of Organ Culture in the Elbe-Weser Region in 2002. In this region an exceptionally high number of historic organs is preserved – especially those of the famous organ builder Arp Schnitger.

The objective of the Orgelakademie Stade is to make this cultural inheritance accessible to people of all ages. In particular its aim is to bring children and adolescents closer to the world of organs and organ music.

The Orgelakademie focuses on following fields of work:

  • touristic activities (guided organ tours, organ trips)
  • youth development (Youth Organ Forum Stade, guided organ tours for school classes, kindergartens and other children and youth groups, educational organ concerts for children and families, organ taster courses etc.)
  • research and publications

The members of the sponsoring organization of the Orgelakademie are the Administrative District and the Hanseatic City of Stade, the city of Cuxhaven, the Landschaftsverband der ehemaligen Herzogtümer Bremen und Verden e. V., the Evangelical Lutheran Regional Church of Hannover, organ support associations and cultural foundations, parishes as well as individuals interested in organ culture.
